MTV's Pimp My Ride pimped a 65 Impala SS with a bot more than the usual 20 million video monitors scattered throughout the interior and trunk. This time they transplanted a Duramax diesel that ended up with 800 HP and 1400 lb-ft of torque into an Impala and came up with 25 MPG and a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds!

Looking to capitalize on the alternative fuel boom, Safeway has begun selling biodiesel at its store at 4115 S.W. Admiral Way in West Seattle. It is the first Safeway location in the country to add biodiesel, a 20 percent blend from Iowa soybean oil. If successful, the company will add additional biodiesel pumps at select stores in the future.

Ethanol yields 25% more energy than the energy invested in its production, biodiesel yields 93% more energy than the energy invested in its production. If the US devotes all of its corn and soybean to biofuel production, it would meet 12%of US gasoline demand and 6% of US diesel demand.
